Document Summary
Frame it in a way of explaining what you think people should do, supported by papers, to a naive person. Sensation perception: perception requires processing; organizing and interpreting; making sense of the sensation input. We perceive the world, to create meaning; and we adapt our social developments, interpersonal skills, etc. to it. We don"t passively receive info; info is interpreted. Preferential looking procedure: does the infant show a preference over looking at one thing than another, ie, visual acuity: (how well can they see) Show baby two patterns: one with more spacing between stripes, one with less. If paper spend more time looking at one than the other, it shows that the baby can discriminate them (they appear di erent to the baby) Conclude that baby has the ability to discriminate between the two: problem: assumes that baby have natural preference (for stripes over square)
