Language, thought, and culture affect each other one way or another: when researchers look at culture, the most broad distinction about culture is. East vs west > broad differences between two looks at individualistic and collectivistic culture. Collectivistic culture > less focus on individual and the group; putting group before the individual; see yourself varying depending on the different roles and relationships. Looking at east/west differences in how growing up in different cultures affects how we perceive the world. In west, default is taxonomic categorization strategy > rule based type strategy. In east, default is thematic categorization strategy > categorized dog/cat together because animals & fur; dog/bone because dogs like bones.
