Document Summary
Learning: moving into cognitive pillar of pyschology. Albert shows no fear/reaction to the animals in front of him: every time albert shown white rat, they bang a steel drum/pot making a loud sound, scaring albert and making him cry. Discovered that little albert may not have been a normally healthy developing child -despite being described as healthy; little albert may have died young from meningitis: indication research problematic ; ongoing controversy. Learning: relatively permanent change in behaviour/ knowledge resulting from experience > interaction with objects or people in the world. Three types: associative learning > forming connection between two stimuli; conditioning processing, nonassociaivite learning > Habituation (eg. buzzing light) > is a form of learning in which an organism decreases or ceases its responses to a stimulus after repeated or prolonged presentations; Sensitization (eg. crying baby) > magnified response to a stimulus. Repeated administration of a stimulus results in the progressive amplification of a response.
