Document Summary
Memory cognitive models more important after behaviouralists lost stride. Most important is shiffrin and atkinson model of memory. When people are given feedback, phenomena (intuition) drops and people drop to chance. Model is a little too simplistic feedback implicitly learns complicated pattern, can be picked up even if you are unaware of doing so. Iconic memory - what is seen 1/3 to 2/3 seconds. Echoic memory - memory of what is heard and lasts about 2 seconds. Main function of these is to give you a continuous scene and sentences. Working memory works based on how much the information has been chunked. Working memory can process more information if the information is chunked and relevant to the information and to the person remembering chunked information is easier to remember in long term memory. We do not know limitations or capacity.
