Atherosclerosis: blood lipids = hdl-c vs ldl-c. h is good because there is high lipid density vs low density lipid density. Ldl is trapped in blood vessels that form plaques and lesions. Build up of fat of mainly cholesterol that is trapped under the inner lining of arteries. Becomes oxidized and activate macrophages = inflammatory response = causes macrophages that stick to the tissue. Lumen size decreases as a result in plaque, causing a resistance in blood flow. Angina = chest pains due to stable plaques that are limiting blood flow to the tissues, it"s partly closed off that causes reduction in blood flow. In coronary vessel can cause a heart attack, causing the blood supply to not reach the lower points.
