Document Summary

Pressure, flow, and resistance in the cardiovascular system. Role of the heart is to create flow that can be distributed through the vascular system, and ned a series of blood vessels to deliver the flow effectively to all the tissues in the body. In order to do this, we need vascular system that can handle the pressure and use the pressure as a pressure reservoir to push the blood to various tissues. Key part of regulating pressure in aorta and arteries is the volume of blood in them at any given time. Blood pressure is highest in the arteries and decreases continuously as it flows through the circulatory system. There are pulsatile waves in the arteries forming pulse pressure, (cid:271)ut (cid:449)e"ll fo(cid:272)us o(cid:374) the drop of pressure throughout the cv system that drives blood into tissues (map)
