Plato accepts that you can never learn anything new then says that when we seem to learn things it is through recollection. Just because socrates has suggested answers, doesn"t mean he has cheated. A priori k ( from before necessary truths, analytic propositions) A posteriori k ( from after contingent truths; synthetic propositions) Analytic: meaning of the word contains answer to the question (eg. Synthetic: puts together that are separate already(eg. Necessary truth: something that could not possibly be false. First reversal, we can perhaps answer the question, by posing a hypothesis: P1: any x is teachable iff(pronounced if-if or if and only if, means the implication works both ways) x is knowledge. We are inclined to rely on it because it appears to be analytic (if the predicate is contained in the subject) 1st attempt: relied on the assumption that noone would ever want something bad intentionally (weak) - partial proof. 2nd attempt: wisdom is the common element.
