Lecture 18: innovation and artificial intelligence (ai) in drug development. Can ai be used to shorten the time for drug development: preclinical drug development is usually around 7 years but the goal of using ai in preclinical development would to be to reduce this to 2 years. The future of drug screening is all "in silico" which uses machine learning (ml) Of task might be guess which items a customer is likley to buy or control arm and leg movements. Tasks can be quite different in nature, but the common theme is that the task should be executed differently and of a walking robot appropriately in response to different input data. In 2016 the company atomwise launched a virtual search for safe, existing medicines that could be redesigned to treat the ebola virus found 2 drugs predicted by the company"s ai technology which may significanlty reduce.
