Document Summary

Theres 2 main streams, the common lymphoid and the common myloid progenitor lineages. The common lymphoid progenitors are the immune cells. The common myloid progenitors are the platelets and the blood cells, and some of these cells have immune functions, and they are the innate immune cells. Theres a lot of plasticity in the development of these cells. These 3 cells are the sentinel cells, they are just underneath the epithelium and they detect pathogens or danger signals. The top 2 are phagocytes, they ingest stuff. Macrophages are disposal cells, they remove cellular debris and they ingest pathogens to kill them, and in certain conditions when they are activated in a certain way, they can act as apcs. Dendtiric cells are sentinel cells in the tissues and they also act as messengers when they enter the tissues. In the tissues they aren"t phagocytic, they present antigens. The dentritic cells are deciding the fate of the immune response.
