Document Summary

Historians believe that wwi and wwii are actually two parts of one long conflict. There was continuation in army officers (wwi) into officers (wwii) Shaped a generation: that was in charge of europe > looked through the prism of the wwi experience. The 20th century started in 1914 into 1991 (the dissolution of the ussr) The british felt that it was a bad war (wwi), they had no real conflict with germany. Wwii was a good war because they fought against evil. The eastern european felt wwi was a good war as it allowed for the creation of many countries (despite high levels of causalities) : the border wars. Major difference in causalities: most were soldiers (wwi), and most were civilians in wwi. During wwi, everyone was effected and participated in the war. In the beginning of the 20th century: russia wanted to expand into near the sea, the greek project. Russia was pushed back several times but persisted.
