Strain leads to stress, which has many biological damaging effects on the body: real physiological injury to body and health, competition can lead to self-imposed stress and strain. Bill 168 - workplace harassment: the most significant change made to the original bill is the inclusion of a new expanded definition of "workplace violence". Similarities to chemical/biological/physical hazards: manifestation is observable disease/injury requires time - "cumulative trauma, corollary - they are not immediate onset and difficult to relate back to a single traumatic event, creates problems for workers" compensation claims. Can we use "the equation" for psychosocial problems: toxicity of stressor * amount of stressor * Most work injuries: are difficult to relate to a single traumatic event, difficult to diagnose, difficult to determine the time of recovery, difficult to relate back to the workplace.
