What is conservation biology the study of the species, ecological communities, and ecosystems that are being negatively affected by human activities it provides the biological concepts and tools for preserving biodiversity and ecosystem function. However, if you could link it up with corridors of green land, you could have the animals/ organisms migrate easily. Disadvantage: if a disease exists, the corridors allow the disease to migrate as well. 10 fragments have a greater amount of edge per area of habitat i. e. : large fragments have an edge, but a lot of forest in the center as well, so it is protected. Suppose black is 40%, red is 30%, one is 10% and another is 5%. We"re simulating genetic drift (a crash in population size). We would almost certainly find those rare alleles (5% or 10%) in our bottleneck population. Genetic drift is a powerful process, and rare alleles are lost in populations.
