Music and video file downloading and the effects on the entertainment industry. Computers are special technology and also rose with some ethical issues; one of them is music and movie piracy. Piracy is a similar term for stealing or robbery. Music and movie piracy are sharing music or movie file without the copyright permission which are all illegal by the law. These affects legal music buyers, the music industry and file sharers. The use of piracy to disseminate intellectual property does severe harm to the economy; it also undermines several free market principles. Each year, the music industry loses approximately . 2 billion because of piracy around the world. Record companies lose as 85 percent of recordings released don"t generate enough revenue to cover their expenses. Also the musicians, singers, songwriters and producers loses as they don"t get the royalties and fees they"ve earned.
