Usually have settings either a long time ago but in actual places e. g. , rome, athens etc. or outside a time and away from human existence e. g. , eden, mt. Mythology < m thos (story) + logos (account) = the study of myth. Myth can be circulated in a number of ways e. g. , orally (hesiod, homer), through literature (ovid, euripidies), artistic media, dance versions, musical versions. Story tellers can be real (like homer and hesiod) or mythical (orpheus) Written stories usually have a known author, or they can be anonymous. The myths contained are about mythical transformations (usually people into other forms e. g. , Gods, animals etc = not reversible)) or gods into other things (reversible) Apotheosis = to become a god; catasterism = transformation into a star.
