If melting temperature increases, dna has been stabilized. 260 absorbance increases if heat dsdna b/c when bases stacked up, electrons interact with one another; this interaction causes absorbance at 260 to decrease; when strands apart, more flexibility, this interaction goes away, abosrbance increases.
