Both molecules can carry oxygen, and they carry it via heme. Without the iron, its called porophorin, and nh-c=c-c=c-nh is a pyralle ring. When we have iron in the middle of the ring, its called heme. When iron is in the ferris state, it can bind o2. Iron can make 4 bonds, but it makes a total of 6 coordinate bonds,. Myoglobin has 1 of these molecules, hemoglobin has 4. The histidine that makes the 5th bond is a proximal histidine. When o2 molecule makes the 6th coordinate bond. Its all alpha helical, theres 8 alpha helixes that make up the protein, and the red thing is the heme.
