There is iron and copper in the sun. There are denser individual clouds called nebulae . Some are visible, while some are invisible. Most famous visible one is the orion nebula (can see with naked eye as the middle star in orion"s sword) Places in night sky where stars seem to be missing. But they are not missing just blocked out by molecular clouds. Densest parts of interstellar medium, comparable to best vacuums on earth. Similar to soot or sand grains, but smaller. Better at blocking blue light than red light. Can see more stars by measuring infrared light (over visible light) Serve as laboratories where some molecules can form. Accretion surface diffusion chemical desorption. Molecular clouds are found all over the galaxy.
