ANA300Y1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Internal Iliac Artery, Inferior Mesenteric Artery, Superior Mesenteric Artery
Document Summary
Return of blood back to left side of heart, takes a different route depending if we need to throw heat off or conserve (shunting of blood between these networks functions in temperature regulation) Greatest artery in the body is the aorta arch over and go down, described with an ascending and descending portion right & left coronary arteries it has 2 branches, which are the coronary arteries and they supply the heart. Next branch of arch of aorta is the left common carotid artery and left subclavian artery for another branch 2 vessels on left and 2 vessels on right end up with symmetry ultimately. Between all these arch of aorta vessels they supply the head, neck , shoulders, upper limbs (shoulders+upper limbs by subclavians) (head and neck by common carotids) Arch of aorta brachiocephalic trunk + left common carotid artery +left subclavian artery. Descending aorta = thoracic aorta + abdominal aorta.
