Investigating gender truths: history of nature, sciences and the body. This weeks reading was based on week 2, next weeks reading will be based on weeks 3. It allows us to understand the differences (opposition to whatever is the normative) in such that differences in not our race/age/sex that separate us but our inability to recognize these differences. It is suggested that we [celebrate] these differences. Difference is another way of coding for " others ", good vs. bad, normal vs. deviant. In newspaper articles you will almost never hear the mention of a " white female professor " since white bodies are universal, the most you will ever hear is [white female]. But in the case of a black female professor, the adjective black is used. Violence: emotional, spiritual, corporate, structural oppression has material consequences and is supported by violence. Compliance and the notion to education the oppressor about humanity. Week 1: " complicity, connections & struggles ".
