Id great part of our personality, saisfying our insinctual needs to reduce tension, avoid pain, gain pleasure. Superego morals guiding our behaviour learned from society. Ego mediator b/w id and superego balance your id and superego needs. Psychic determinism internal processes that are driving our acions (moivator). The unconscious is most powerful source of behaviour. Freud believed trivial mistakes were meaningful: e. g. slip of tongue sheds light of unconscious thoughts, it is not a mere accident, symptoms of disorders. Symptoms are not the focus when treaing they are merely expression of deeper conlicts. Geneically driven insincts cause these conlicts (e. g. surviving, sex etc. ) By the ime we are 6, we have become the person we are going to be. Chronological phases must go through them in order.
