Document Summary

It occurs when animals benefit from experience so that their behavior is better adapted to the environment. Presentation of feared stimulus without the occurrence of the feared response. Extinction is the key element used in behavioral therapy. For example, when the dog is presented with the sound of the bell, but no food, the conditioned response (the salivating) will disappear. Habituation is when your brain and your body gets habituated to the repeated stimulus. Panic disorder with agoraphobia is a simple example of classical conditioning. A big fear with agoraphobia is the fear of a panic attack. Behaviors leading to a satisfying outcome are likely to reoccur. Behaviors leading to an aversive outcome are not likely to reoccur. A positive reinforcer is something that has been added to increase behaviour. For example, giving points for showing up to class on time (adding points).
