Social problems: failure to complete physically addictive drugs (dependency) could only be addicted to. If you take away dependence and tolerance = things like marijuana, smartphones, gambling = can fall under addiction. Feel good, euphoria, relieve stress, enhance performance (e. g. , steroids, study drugs (ritalin), and curiosity. Symptoms = cravings = strong use to use (doesn"t have to be a drug) Lack of control = desire to cut back/control and can have difficulties with this. Tolerance and withdrawal symptoms = not all drugs have this (e. g. , marijuana) In purple = amygdala and hippocampus involved in learning and memory. Ventral paldum and nucleus accumbens = reward sensitivity. Ofc = involved in evaluation you give to something. Pfc inhibits ofc= desire and inhibitory parts of the brain are in conflict (weak inhibitory control in addicted brain)
