PSYB30H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Neuroticism, Walter Mischel, Extraversion And Introversion
Document Summary
We begin with the assumptions that we are evolved species. We are unique variations of the basic design we have as a species. This variation is situated (shaped) by cultural and environmental factors. It rests on an evolved foundation and that interacts with culture. We all vary in our attachment system the attachment system that is inside all of us because we fine tune it through our experiences which lead us to our own attachment system, unique from others. Our culture and experiences will affect our attachment experiences and the system we encompass. Convergent evolution traits that may evolve because of a functional relationship due to natural selection. When we think of convergent evolution: similar species will develop similar traits due to selection pressures. Snakes, scorpions and some fish have the ability to inject poison into other animals. Shared ancestry cannot account for the fact that these organisms can inject poison.
