Document Summary
Physiological effects that help the organism achieve goals. When confronted with something that scares you, one will experience physiological and psychological reactions (both aspects work together that is posing as a threat and challenge) Facial expression (sometimes): some emotions evoke certain facial expressions. Sympathetic: ramps up the body for action. Parasympathetic: brings the body back to resting phase. Work together to put the body in a state that is right for that situation. If we are constantly on a state of high alert, our body will not be able to function well. Appraisal processes: how objects and events in our environment are evaluated relative to our current goals, different appraisals- different emotions. Initial, quick appraisal made of an event or circumstance: automatic and mostly about good and bad, safe or dangerous, does the individual want to be in that situation, etc. (tarantula on man"s shoulder, na chill) Human facial expressions resemble displays of other primates.
