Document Summary
Secondary- slow worked out thoughts about why we feel the way we feel. We should see lots of cross culture consistency. Expressions can be specific to certain culture however, as to how emotions are specifically expressed. Individualistic cultures display emotions much more in social contexts whereas collectivistic cultures display less emotion in social contexts. People use heuristics from how others make them feel in a situation. Being in positive mood leads to more heuristic thinking; and turning to schemas. Also cause people to think more flexibly and creatively. Being in negative moods leads to more systematic thinking; use less heuristics/schemas. I. e. sadness tends to lead to less stereotyping. People don"t pay a lot of attention to the duration of their experience. Instead, we follow the peak-end rule: how good/bad was experience at it"s best/worst, and how good/bad was experience at the end. How we predict our emotions to future events.
