Comorbidities: dsm will list comorbidities for a particular disorder. Other disorders may commonly co-occur with the disorder in question. When survival is threatened by experience: anxiety. When there is no threat present in the moment but the fear is for things that could potentially occur in the future. Adaptive responses to threats: fear and anxiety are adaptive reactions to threats, anxiety that interferes with normal functioning is maladaptive.
