Document Summary

In classical conditioning, generalization refers to the extent to which a stimulus similar to the cs can elicit the cr. As u start to diverge from the original bell, generalization means dog drools anyway. This is because the sound is close to the bell it drooled to at first. In operant conditioning, generalization refers to the extent to which a stimulus similar to the discriminative stimulus elicits a response. Joorden"s dog not going on the furniture when dad was in the house. If brother was very similar to father, there would be generalization. Animals can learn to both generalize, and simultaneously, to discriminate. In a sense, they learn to categorize stimuli into those that should be responded to, and those that are not worth the effort. Discriminate means i dont want to generalize it. Assume you have a very young child in the family and has been around cats.
