The un charter: ch 1 article 2(4) Article 2(7) nothing contained in the present charter shall authorize the united nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state doesn(cid:284)t have to violate 2(4) to be impermissible. Internal use of force might not violate 2(4) but that doesn(cid:284)t mean it is permissible. *underlying principle of int law - state consent & state sovereignty* Threat or use of force this is impermissible. If the use of that force would be illegal. What counts as force? military/ armed force - military force was their point of reference (this was created first and it was in their minds) Inclusion of economic sanctions was specifically rejected.
