NROC64H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Lamellar Corpuscle, Efference Copy, Bulbous Corpuscle
Document Summary
Haptic perception: main message from todays lecture is that haptic perception is multisensory, major take home message (efference copy)=> motion command. A copy is the information send to the muscles essentially which is feed back to the brain. This command carry"s information about for example what a arm is going to do. You can predict based on the muscle command or the arm is going to bend. And that is possibly has perceptual effects when it comes to haptic exploratory procedures: how does action perception go together. Action is for perception as we have actions that are meant to help with perception. The opposite is true too, perception is for action essentially. Without acting in certain ways we can not survive which is talked about later. Today we talk about how action is for perception: another major point is perception is a hierarchical system that compares actual sensory input with expected sensory effects.
