Document Summary

Lecture 3- organizational analysis: what are media organizations, why do they function the way that they do and what kinds of critical questions can we raise about them. And as we can see the substance (water) within the glass itself is the substance. We can see the liquid inside the glass takes on the form of the glass. The substance means what is but it has no choice but to take on the form of the structure: all organizations are defined by the structure and the process that people undertake within that structure. In turn, those processes are conditioned by specific conventions, codes, varying levels of professionalization, that refers to the norms, guidelines and expectations of those working within the form. That is those workers that make up the substance which is the shaped by the form of the organization.
