Document Summary

When there are unregulated resources, it does not take much to deplete those resources. Concept proposed by garret harden (ecologist from ucsb) in 1968. Resource users are tempted to increase use until the resources are gone. In general, in canada, resources are regulated well but depletion of the regulated resources is fast. The civilization moved step backwards because of the depletion of their resources. They had so much resources from fishing, etc. How do we affect the environment: example: how we make thunderstorm happen. Interdisciplinary science: lots of discipline such as chemistry, biology and even math, different disciplines used to manage impacts to understand how the environment works. Slow reaction to some environmental problems: we are not coming up with ways to solve these problems. I = p a t s. Affluence: how much money you have, more money, more impact in the environment, more money can produce more things which can impact the environment.
