Their function is to get sound information from the environment to the middle ear. Middle ear: ear drum that is first going to take sound energy and convert it into mechanical energy which will be converted into electrical signal. Then there are 3 bones in your middle ear which transmits sound through to inner ear. Two of these bones originate from the jaw of the ancestor. The other two bones came from jaw of the reptiles. They got multiplied, we only have one though. Cochlea is a part of the inner ear that will allow us to hear. Vestibulocochlear nerve will be carrying the sensory info to the brain.
