Sub = beneath; lingual = tongue; mandibular = lower jaw (mandible) Mumps: parotid gland infection -> infection spread = encephalitis (brain swelling) & meningitis (spinal cord swelling) & orchitis (testicles swelling) Upper oesophageal sphincter = control food entry from mouth into oesophagus 5. Lower oesophageal sphincter = controls food entry from oesophagus into stomach & prevents acidic stomach content backflow. Hiatus: gap @ diaphragm thru which oesophagus passes. Hernia: pt of organ moves somewhere that it isn"t supposed to be = protrudes into a body region that x normally occupy.
