In life cycles of bryophytes there are two gametophytes: antheridium and archegonium: antheridium is female organ and it produces egg cell. On the other hand, antheridium is male organ and it produces spermatozoids: the spermatozoid is highly water dependent as it needs a thin film of water to swim and enter female structure. In bryophyte gametophyte is haploid and sporophyte id diploid: during its growth, the embryo outgrows quickly above and beyond the gametophyte.
