Trans people experience sports issues in the broader society. Gender segregated sports is supposed to level the gender binary. Cis gender: person"s self perception of their gender, usually occupy gender binary, doesn"t consider self perception. Microaggressions: they are not unique to trans issues, they communicate to say you are not conforming because you are not following gender binary. Either play in women"s or men"s" team: adherence to gender binary. Environment that is produced, and shaping exclusive social environments, happens among people who aren"t overtly transphobic. Experiences are not new, it has lasted so long. Implementing policy is new, public understanding is in their infancy. Because these are in the infancy we are in a fertile position, not entrenched, in a position to be less transphobic. Brainstorm some ways that sport might be organized to segregate or exclude. Suggests that people who occupy a minority position has added stressors. Everyday life: sports to broader society and world.
