To have that job, you need to earn that credential in school. In contrast to more factory based economy - only training you need is how to. Now - postsecondary education is necessary - knowledge is your asset which you can provide to employers. Knowledge-based economy: a system of consumption and production that is characterized by the production of intellectual goods and services, emphasizes technological advances, and rewards workers for their knowledge and skills. (textbook definition, p. 240) Put time and money in to earn degree which will open doors for you for better opportunities.
