Focus on interpersonal communication in micro level settings. Social life is possible only because people attach meaning to things. People create social circumstances and do not merely react to them. Society as a product of everyday interactions of people. Shared reality that people construct as they interact: reality: how we define surroundings, obligations, identities, world of symbols. Significant and generalized other-did i get embarrassed: other, ascribed meaning, interactive behaviour, goffman, dramaturgical approach front and back stages-who they are behind the image (back stage), vs. who they really are (front stage), shared cognitive frames.
