Gender- is culturally and socially constructed differences between males and females found in the meanings, beliefs and practices associated with femininity and masculinity. Gender identity-identification with or sense of belonging to a particular sex (biologically, psychologically, socially) Gender ideologies- set of ideas about what constitutes appropriate masculine and feminine roles and behaviours. Heteronormativity- holds that heterosexuality is normal and assumes an alignment between biological sex, gender identity and gender roles. Intersex- variation in sex characteristic that do not allow distinct sex identification (heterosexual) Transgendered- break social norms by defying gender distinctions (homosexual) Transsexual- alter their gender, believe they were born in the wrong body (bisexual) Nature vs nurture (christians thought you can undo it) Environmental factors ( availability of sex partners, early experiences, jail, culture. Sexual orientation cannot be changed and efforts to change it do not work and it is harmful, thus if it were nurture it could be changes, thus it is nature aka normal.
