Document Summary
Sociology is the systematic study of human behaviour in a social context. Educates us on certain aspects of life such as social structures, behaviour and culture. For example, the study of sociology may do a study on homeless people and dispel the stereotype that they are generally lazy and help identify real underlying reasons behind their current situation. A sociological perspective sees the general in the particular and the strange in the familiar. It helps identify social context in which we live and how these contexts shape our lives. A term discovered by sociologist c. wright mills to help explain what kinds of understanding about the world around us the study sociology can give us. It is a way of looking at the world that allows connections to be made between what seem like private problems of individuals and important social issues.
