Sociology, deviance, and crime: broader social content shape deviance and crime, no norms, no deviance, norms are socially-defined, and historical and locational related. As norms are guideline of behavior, deviance and crime are socially-related as well: sociologists pay more attention on the idea of deviance and crime changes over time, just like norm. The changing norms is the main reason of the changing deviance and our attitudes toward those: eg: marijuana. White people started to use weeds. (related to race) During the 20 century, there were reports about the negative effects of marijuana. When the report expended to the worldwide, it cause world panic. In 1950s, the drug experiment changed the world"s opinions to marijuana. The thing is that, when people were changing their minds towards drug, marijuana itself barely changed. Stigmatization-someone is negatively evaluated: formal punishment. Their interests can be explained by the 4 basic sociological theories: structural functionalism the strain theory.
