Theoretical perspective: language is not connected to the auditory-vocal system, sign language acquisition from birth is just as same as acquiring a spoken language from birth. Applied: language development is normal for those that acquire sign language from birth. Joint attention is a setback for blind children. Differences between children who are blind and sighted. Deaf children have easier time acquiring phonemes that are distinct from one another. Blind children cannot do this as much since they cannot lip read.
