Harking: acting like you predicted and effect that was unexpected all along. All hypothesis are tested and the one that gives the most significant result is said to be predicted all along: exploratory research vs confirmatory research. Exploratory; exploring possible hypothesis and seeing which fits best; easy to achieve. Confirmatory; confirming a particular hypothesis that was made in the beginning; difficult to achieve. These days both are done; exploratory done earlier on to see possibilities and confirmatory later. Selectively reporting variables; saying you only collected a particular set of variables when in reality, you collected a lot. Selectively reporting studies and conditions; saying you only conducted certain studies and conditions when in reality, you conducted a lot.
