We all have to make important decisions that involve uncertainty. Uncertain things cannot expect to find deductively valid arguments. Inductive strength: if premise all true, a high probability the conclusion is true. If al its premises are true, then there is a high probability that its conclusions will be true as well. There is always an inductive leap from the inductively strong reasons to the conclusion. The stronger the inductive reasons, the less risky the inductive leap. We can make sharp distinction between deductively valid arguments, on the one hand and those that are merely inductively strong, on the other , it is important to be clear about the difference. Variables: properties or feature that come in degrees, have infinitely many values from. There are three common measures of this sort. (mean,median,mode) Mean(average): (add all of the numbers in the distribution together and divide by the number of items in the distribution).
