Americans thought that terrorism was the greatest threat, while after 9/11 it rose to about 75% Non-obtrusive watched and learned about it from tv, internet, radio etc. It"s a high likely hood we may use that event/issue to evaluate government/political leaders. As terrorism became more important, it became an important yardstick to evaluate government performance. Media tells you how to think about events/issues: most communication is framed in some sort choosing certain things to talk about and ignoring other things. Frame dominance when communication environment is occupied by one dominant frame (rarely occurs in politics) After ww2, ir was dominated by cold war frame bipolar conflict between soviet union and usa. Frames strength the stronger strength will win contingent on individuals receptivity to images, styles etc: based on 3 variables: Frame availability when an individual connects the frame and question to the issue/event at hand.
