John rawls - justice as fairness: plurality unavoidable (different conceptions of good) & desirable > (diversity enriches us) Unavoidable > (people living in democratic society have own conceptions of the good, where differences shouldn"t be ranked // everyone has different beliefs and values and no ability to reduce this to unity) Agree on basic structure of society = diversity has a positive role. Basic structure: tendency to be too concrete, definition changes from time-time (policies need to change: principles of justice apply to basic structure & must be settled rationally > (original position, veil of ignorance, etc. ) Not a matter of what is more vs. less important.
