Pol242 may 22: the fundamentals of research design for an observational study. A case study is best of a single unit with an aim to generalize across a larger set of units . It is an in-depth study that allows researchers to immerse themselves within the research context. When you have just one thing to focus on, you can ask so many questions about it and you can look at the most important dimensions of this very thing. This allows you to focus on a specific study/unit. However, this does not mean you will not look at the lower level of analysis. When you look at politics in canada, for example, you are not just looking at the federal level but also lower levels like provincial level. Case studies consist of all cases of analysis of all different levels. One of the key benefits of a case study is the ethnographic answer you will receive.
