Environment is everything on the earth (biotic and abiotic) Natural resources have limitations even though we need them to survive. Renewability is a spectrum ( renewable--- non-renewable (sun wind waves geothermal crops, fresh water ,forest, soils oil, coal, copper etc. Resource management is strategic decisions to balance the use and renewability of natural resources. 2. 5 mya we gained use of fire, and switched from nomadic to hunter gatherer. Was the agricultural revolution all of a sudden with all our developments the water and air quality became tainted today= medical=technological revolution (medicine, sanitation, communication) Ipat: i=p x a x t (number of people, increased consumption, impacts of new technologies) Carrying capacity: measure of the ability of a system to support life. Beyond this ability the population of the system will decline or collapse while the system itself is altered. Tragedy of the commons: each individual will take/use whatever they can of the system as quickly as possible until its entirely depleted.
