Document Summary
Probability of these happening depends on sex, age, dynamics, etc. One type of growth model for population is: Cannot be sustained indefinitely; because all individuals are using resources and they"re limited so they end up running out eventually. Carrying capacity = the max population size of a species that its environment can sustain. Environmental resistance is that pressure is going to be put on that population (quality of an environment not a population) Density-dependent factors = limiting factors whose influence is affected by population density disease, parasites, competition, etc. Density-independent factors = limiting factors unrelated to population density natural disasters, forest fires, climate change, etc. When populations are small, the probability of diseases is much less and smaller because there"s less connection being made. The denser the population, the higher the mortality. Fast population growth rate vs. slow population growth rate. No parental care (mouse) vs parental care (elephant) Variable and unpredictable mortality vs more constant/predictable mortality.
