Lecture 2- thursday january 17th 2019: criminal law: pertains to crimes, perceived as threatening or harmful. Moral well-being of society: legal standard for criminal law to get a conviction: decisions are based on praise, standard of beyond reasonable doubt. Could also be corporations: another legal standard: legal standard ponders of doubts. Which side martialized more evidence on their behalf. Which side has a greater amount of support. How the judicial system itself works: if somebody gets of based on a technicality that is usually procedural law, tort: civil law. You"ve wronged somebody, in a way that they can turn around and sue you. Civil law that creates a right for a victim to sue a perpetrator: statue: law that is created by a legislative body. Parliament of congress if they pass a law that is a statue of some kind.
