Things to consider in a design:
Personality of the design/design elements
What is it you're trying to communicate? What attributes/qualities does it have?
How can you communicate this idea visually (quickly and legibly)?
What artistic direction/style is most appropriate?
ie. Thin lines, Positive/Negative Shapes, Light or Dark
Clear direction (ie. Bold lines, thin lines)
Exaggerate what you're trying to communicate
Application of simplification and abstraction; More specification is needed
Attempt to achieve a finished look; Clean lines and shapes
Good use of shapes and lines and form; Good resemblance
